From Bassendean to Dianella: What You'll Find at Alex Royer Salon

Bassendean is one of those inner-northern suburbs that has a genuinely strong community identity — the old town centre on Old Perth Road, the Swan River on the southern edge, a mix of original Federation-era homes and newer development. It's a suburb that people who live there tend to like a lot.

We use Keune Tinta and Semi, both PPD free. PPD — paraphenylenediamine — is the compound in most conventional hair dyes that causes allergic reactions. The reactions range from mild scalp irritation to significant swelling. They can develop in people who've coloured their hair for years without any problem. We made a deliberate choice to use PPD-free colour as our standard because we think it's the right call, not because it's a selling point.

The Atmosphere

LGBTQI+ friendly. Judgment-free. Consistently, not selectively. If you've felt watched or assessed in a salon before, or like you had to perform a version of yourself that the environment demanded — that won't happen here.
