For Beechboro Residents: Here's Why We're Worth the Drive

Beechboro residents - Alex Royer Salon in Dianella is about 10 minutes away. Expert cuts, PPD-free colour and a genuinely inclusive space for every client.

Beechboro is far enough from Dianella that a trip to Alex Royer Salon is a deliberate choice rather than a convenience. We know that. Which is why we try to be worth the deliberate choice.

We're on Bayley Street — about ten minutes from most of Beechboro. We have clients from there who come regularly, and when we ask what brings them this far rather than going somewhere closer, the answers tend to be the same few things.

The PPD-Free Colour Is the Most Common Reason

People search for PPD-free salons in Perth's northern suburbs and find us. PPD is paraphenylenediamine — the compound in most conventional hair dyes that causes allergic reactions in sensitive individuals. The reactions can be mild or significant, and they can develop suddenly in people who've coloured their hair conventionally for years without any issue.

We use Keune Tinta and Semi as our standard colour range. Both are PPD free. No special request needed, no premium. It's just how we work. For people managing PPD sensitivity, a ten-minute drive to a salon they can trust is not a hardship.

The Inclusive Atmosphere Is the Second Most Common Reason

We're LGBTQI+ friendly and genuinely judgment-free. That's not a box we tick — it shapes how the salon operates day to day and who feels comfortable here. Some Beechboro clients came specifically because they wanted that environment and found us through a recommendation or a search. Others noticed it when they arrived for an unrelated reason and found it was part of why they wanted to return.

The Honest Version of What We Offer

Good cuts. Good colour. A team that listens during the consultation rather than going through the motions. Consistent results over time because the same people are doing the work and getting to know your hair.

We do everything — cuts for men, women, and everyone in between, full colour range, treatments, blow-drys, styling, extensions by consultation. Keune So Pure retail for home use.

Book Ahead If You're Coming From Beechboro

Since you're making a deliberate trip, it's worth booking online at alexroyersalon.com.au rather than walking in, just to make sure we can fit you in at the time you want. Walk-ins are welcome when we have availability. Tuesday through Saturday, Bayley Street, Dianella.

Come once and see if it's worth the drive. We think it is.

Noranda's Best Nearby Hairdresser Option Is in Dianella

Need a reliable hairdresser near Noranda? Alex Royer Salon in Dianella is just minutes away - PPD-free colour, expert cuts, inclusive space and walk-ins welcome.

Noranda sits right on the edge of Dianella — the two suburbs share a border along several streets, and depending on exactly where you live in Noranda, Alex Royer Salon might genuinely be your closest quality salon option rather than just a nearby one.

We're on Bayley Street. It's a short drive for most of Noranda, and we have clients from the suburb who've been coming regularly for long enough that they've stopped thinking about it as a choice — it's just where they go.

What Makes the Difference

The short answer is: the work is good and the environment is comfortable. That combination is less common than it should be.

The longer answer involves the specifics. We use PPD-free colour — Keune Tinta and Semi — because we think it's the right standard, not because it's a niche request. The consultation before any colour service takes the time it actually needs to take. The team is the same team every time you visit, so the people cutting and colouring your hair know your hair. And the salon is genuinely inclusive — LGBTQI+ friendly, judgment-free, consistent.

A Specific Note on the PPD-Free Colour

For clients in Noranda who've had reactions to conventional hair dye before — and there are more of you than you might expect — this is the most practically important thing about us. PPD sensitivity can develop without warning after years of problem-free colour use. When it does, finding a salon that uses PPD-free colour as the default, without a special request or a premium, matters a lot. That's us.

Services

Everything. Cuts for everyone. Balayage, full colour, root touch-ups, toning, colour correction. Treatments. Blow-drys. Styling. Extensions by consultation. Keune So Pure retail products: paraben free, sulfate free, cruelty free, vegan friendly.

Come In

Bayley Street, Dianella. Book online at alexroyersalon.com.au or walk in. Tuesday through Saturday. From Noranda you're very close — there's no real reason to go further.

From Bassendean to Dianella: What You'll Find at Alex Royer Salon

Looking for a great hair salon near Bassendean? Alex Royer Salon in Dianella is about 8 minutes away — expert cuts, PPD-free colour and an inclusive welcoming space.

Bassendean is one of those inner-northern suburbs that has a genuinely strong community identity — the old town centre on Old Perth Road, the Swan River on the southern edge, a mix of original Federation-era homes and newer development. It's a suburb that people who live there tend to like a lot.

It's also about eight minutes from Alex Royer Salon on Bayley Street in Dianella. For a salon you genuinely want to go back to, eight minutes is nothing.

The Reason Most Bassendean Clients Come

Word of mouth, mostly. Someone mentions us to someone else, they look us up, they book an appointment half-expecting it to be fine but not remarkable — and then it's more than fine. That's the pattern we hear most often from first-time clients who've come from Bassendean or similar distances.

The specific things that come up: the PPD-free colour, the consultation that actually goes somewhere useful, and the atmosphere. In roughly that order for the people who mention a specific reason. For plenty of others it's just that the whole experience feels different from what they've had elsewhere, and they can't immediately say why.

On the PPD-Free Colour

We use Keune Tinta and Semi, both PPD free. PPD — paraphenylenediamine — is the compound in most conventional hair dyes that causes allergic reactions. The reactions range from mild scalp irritation to significant swelling. They can develop in people who've coloured their hair for years without any problem. We made a deliberate choice to use PPD-free colour as our standard because we think it's the right call, not because it's a selling point.

The Atmosphere

LGBTQI+ friendly. Judgment-free. Consistently, not selectively. If you've felt watched or assessed in a salon before, or like you had to perform a version of yourself that the environment demanded — that won't happen here.

Book Your First Appointment

Online at alexroyersalon.com.au. Walk-ins welcome when we have space — worth calling ahead if you're coming from Bassendean specifically. Tuesday through Saturday, Bayley Street, Dianella.

Embleton Residents: Your Nearest Quality Hairdresser

Need a quality hairdresser near Embleton? Alex Royer Salon in Dianella is 5 minutes away — PPD-free colour, expert cuts and a welcoming inclusive salon on Bayley Street.

Embleton is a quiet suburb that gets overshadowed by its more prominent neighbours — Bayswater to the west, Morley to the north, Noranda to the east. It's well-positioned for access to most of Perth's northern corridor, but hair salons within the suburb itself are limited. The obvious answer, for most Embleton residents, is to head to wherever's closest.

We'd argue that closest doesn't have to mean least impressive. Alex Royer Salon is on Bayley Street in Dianella — about five minutes from Embleton — and we're the kind of salon that gives you a reason to make a deliberate choice rather than just going to whoever's convenient.

What We Do and Why It Matters

The thing that distinguishes us most clearly from generic salon options is the combination of PPD-free colour, genuine consultation, and an inclusive atmosphere that's consistent across every client.

On the PPD front: we use Keune Tinta and Semi colour as standard. Both are PPD free. Paraphenylenediamine is the most common allergen in conventional hair dye and causes reactions — scalp irritation, swelling, contact dermatitis — in a meaningful number of people. Some know they're sensitive before they come to us. Others have recently had a first reaction and are looking for an alternative. For both groups, the fact that our standard colour range is PPD free without any premium or special request is the most important thing we offer.

The Consultation

A good colour consultation changes the result. We ask about your hair's history — what colour it is naturally, what's been done to it chemically, how long ago, what products you use at home. We ask what you want and we look at reference photos if you have them. We tell you honestly what's achievable and what isn't. That conversation takes time but it's the difference between a result you're happy with and one you're just making peace with.

Finding Us

A Hair Salon Right Next Door to Bayswater

Searching for a hair salon near Bayswater? Alex Royer Salon in Dianella is just minutes away - expert colour, inclusive environment and PPD-free products as standard.

Bayswater sits directly adjacent to Dianella — depending on which part of Bayswater you're coming from, Alex Royer Salon is practically around the corner. We're on Bayley Street, and the border between the two suburbs is close enough that some clients aren't entirely sure which one they're in when they park.

That proximity matters because it means there's no real argument for settling for a less-than-ideal salon when a better option is this close.

Why It's Worth Coming to Us Specifically

We're a small team. That's not a consolation for anything — it's a deliberate choice that produces consistent results. When you book with us you deal with the same people who know your hair, not a rotating roster of staff who've never seen you before. Over time that relationship produces better colour results, better cuts, and a more relaxed experience overall because we're not starting from scratch every appointment.

The colour work is where most of our returning clients say the difference is clearest. We use Keune Tinta and Semi, PPD free, and we take the consultation seriously — asking about your hair history, what's worked and what hasn't, and what you're actually trying to achieve rather than what's easiest to deliver. That conversation changes the outcome.

The Atmosphere

LGBTQI+ friendly and judgment-free. We put that front and centre because it's genuinely part of how the salon operates rather than a line we use for marketing. The difference shows up in how comfortable people feel from the moment they walk in — and that comfort is part of why people come back.

Everything We Offer

Cuts for men, women, and everyone else. Full colour range. Treatments. Blow-drys. Styling. Extensions by consultation. Keune So Pure retail products.

Book or Walk In

Online at alexroyersalon.com.au. Walk-ins welcome. Tuesday through Saturday on Bayley Street, Dianella. From most of Bayswater, you're looking at under five minutes.

Maylands' Nearest Great Hairdresser Is in Dianella

Looking for a great hairdresser near Maylands? Alex Royer Salon in Dianella is just 5 minutes away — PPD-free colour, expert cuts and an inclusive space for everyone.

Maylands has a lot going for it. Beaufort Street continues through here with its characteristic mix of cafes, independent shops, and the kind of low-key energy that makes it one of the more liveable inner-north suburbs. What it doesn't always have is a standout hair salon.

We're on Bayley Street in Dianella — five minutes from most of Maylands, less from some parts of it. We hear from Maylands clients regularly, and the pattern is consistent: they come once because a friend recommended us or they found us searching for something specific, and then they keep coming back.

What Specific About Dianella Brings Maylands Clients In

The most common specific reasons are the PPD-free colour and the inclusive atmosphere. Sometimes both.

PPD — paraphenylenediamine — is the compound in most standard hair dyes that triggers allergic reactions in sensitive individuals. Scalp itching, swelling around the hairline, contact dermatitis. It can develop suddenly in people who've used conventional colour for years without any problem. We use Keune Tinta and Semi as our standard colour range, both PPD free. For clients managing this sensitivity, that's the most important fact about us.

The inclusive atmosphere is harder to describe from the outside but immediately noticeable when you're in it. We're a proudly LGBTQI+ friendly salon and judgment-free space. That shapes who works here and how every client is treated — not as a policy applied to some people and not others, but as a consistent baseline.

The Full Picture

Cuts for everyone. Full colour range — balayage, full applications, root touch-ups, toning, colour correction. Treatments. Blow-drys. Styling. Extensions by consultation. Keune So Pure retail products for home use: paraben free, sulfate free, cruelty free, vegan friendly.

Getting Here

Bayley Street, Dianella. Five minutes from most of Maylands. Book online at alexroyersalon.com.au or walk in. Tuesday through Saturday. Street parking on Bayley Street.

If you've been looking for a better option than what's immediately around you in Maylands, we're close enough that it's not really a compromise at all.

How to Make Your Haircut Last Longer

A good haircut should look great for weeks, not days. Alex Royer Salon shares practical tips for maintaining your cut and extending the time between appointments.

A good haircut from a skilled stylist should hold its shape for weeks — not just the day you leave the salon. If you're finding that your cut looks great on day one and loses its shape by week two, there are usually a few specific reasons for it, and most of them are fixable.

The Drying Method Matters More Than Most People Think

How you dry your hair has a significant effect on how your cut holds its shape between appointments. If you're towel-drying aggressively and then letting hair air-dry in whatever direction it falls, you're working against whatever shape your stylist built into the cut.

Rough towel drying also roughens the hair cuticle, which makes hair harder to style and more prone to frizz. Pat or squeeze dry rather than rubbing, then use a microfibre towel or an old t-shirt to absorb excess moisture before styling. It sounds minor but the difference is real.

Blow-Drying With Direction

If your stylist blow-dried your hair into a specific shape at the end of your appointment, that's showing you what's possible — and it's broadly repeatable at home if you use the same technique. Blow-drying with a brush in the direction you want the hair to fall, rather than just pointing the dryer at your head, is the single biggest difference between a salon blow-dry result and what most people achieve at home.

You don't need the same skill level as a professional stylist. You just need to be deliberate about direction rather than passive about it.

The Right Products for Your Hair Type

Product choice is where a lot of people either under or over-invest. Fine hair generally needs lighter products — a small amount of a volumising spray or a lightweight serum, applied sparingly. Coarser or curlier hair can take more — a leave-in conditioner, a defining cream, or a lightweight oil to smooth the cuticle.

The mistake most people make is using too much product for their hair type, which weighs fine hair down and makes curly hair greasy rather than defined. Start with less than you think you need and build up.

Sleeping on Silk or Satin

Cotton pillowcases create friction against hair as you move in your sleep, which roughens the cuticle and contributes to frizz and shape loss overnight. A silk or satin pillowcase — or just a satin pillowcase cover — reduces that friction significantly. It's a simple, inexpensive change that a lot of people notice immediately.

Loosely braiding or twisting hair before bed, rather than leaving it loose, also reduces tangling and helps maintain the direction of a style overnight.

When to Come Back In

Most haircuts need a trim every six to eight weeks to maintain their shape — shorter cuts and fades more frequently, longer cuts less so. Waiting too long between trims means the shape grows out faster than a regular maintenance trim would allow.

If your cut is consistently losing shape faster than you'd like, it's worth talking to your stylist about whether the cut itself needs adjusting — sometimes a slight change in technique or angle makes a noticeable difference to how long the shape holds.

We offer trims as standalone appointments at Alex Royer Salon in Dianella. Book online at alexroyersalon.com.au or walk in Tuesday through Saturday.

Hairdresser Near Osborne Park: What We Offer at Alex Royer Salon

Looking for a hairdresser near Osborne Park? Alex Royer Salon in Dianella is about 15 minutes away — expert cuts, PPD-free colour and a welcoming inclusive space.

Osborne Park has a lot of businesses — it's one of those suburban commercial strips that has almost everything. Almost. The hair salon options tend to be the kind of places that are fine without being particularly memorable, which is why we see clients from Osborne Park and the surrounding area fairly regularly.

We're in Dianella — about fifteen minutes from Osborne Park. Small salon, full service, and genuinely invested in doing good work.

The PPD-Free Angle

We use Keune Tinta and Semi colour, which are PPD free. This is the specific thing that brings a lot of Osborne Park clients in for the first time — they've had a reaction to conventional dye, done some research, and found us through a search for PPD-free colour in Perth's northern suburbs.

PPD sensitivity is more common than most people realise. The reactions — scalp itching, swelling, contact dermatitis — can develop after years of problem-free use of conventional colour. When they do, finding a salon that uses PPD-free products as standard rather than as a special request becomes important. We've been doing it this way from the start.

More Than Just Colour

Cuts for everyone — that's the baseline. Beyond that: balayage, full colour applications, root touch-ups, toning, colour correction for jobs that haven't gone as planned elsewhere. Treatments and conditioning services. Blow-drys. Styling. Extensions by consultation.

The Keune So Pure retail products we carry — paraben free, sulfate free, cruelty free, vegan friendly — are what we recommend clients take home because they're the same standard we hold in the salon. No disconnect between what we put on your hair and what we suggest you use at home.

The Atmosphere

LGBTQI+ friendly and judgment-free. We don't treat these as marketing positions — they're operational realities that show up in how the team works and how clients experience the salon. If you've felt uncomfortable in a hair salon before, this is probably the thing that will feel most immediately different when you visit us.

Finding Us

Bayley Street, Dianella. About fifteen minutes from most of Osborne Park. Book online at alexroyersalon.com.au or walk in — we welcome both. Tuesday through Saturday.

Salon Colour vs Box Dye: The Honest Differences

Is salon colour really that different from box dye? Alex Royer Salon in Perth explains the honest differences in formulation, result and hair health.

This is a question we get asked fairly regularly, usually by clients who've been using box dye at home and are considering making the switch, or by people who've had a box dye job go wrong and are trying to understand why.

The short answer is that they're meaningfully different in several ways — not just quality, but formulation, predictability, and what they do to the hair over time. Here's the longer version.

The Formulation Difference

Box dyes are formulated to work on a wide range of hair types and colours without knowing what they're working with. To achieve that, they tend to use higher concentrations of developer (the peroxide that opens the hair cuticle to allow colour to deposit) and more aggressive dye molecules than a professional colour would use for the same result on a specific hair type.

Professional colour — like the Keune Tinta range we use at Alex Royer Salon — is formulated to be mixed at the right developer strength for your specific hair, starting colour, and target result. That precision matters. A 30-volume developer on fine, previously coloured hair does something very different from what it does on thick, virgin dark hair. Box dye doesn't make that distinction.

The Predictability Problem

Box dyes show you a photo on the box that was achieved on a specific hair type, starting from a specific colour, with specific application conditions. If your hair is different from all of those things — and it almost certainly is — the result will be different too. Sometimes slightly, sometimes dramatically.

This is why box dye results can be inconsistent, and why colour correction is one of the most common reasons people come into our salon having never been before. The job of fixing a box dye that went wrong is often more complex and more expensive than the original professional colour would have been.

What It Does to the Hair Over Time

Repeated box dye use, particularly on hair that's also been lightened or treated with other chemicals, can accumulate damage over time. The cuticle gets rougher with each application, porosity increases, and the hair becomes harder to colour predictably. This is part of why clients who switch from box dye to salon colour sometimes need a few appointments before the colour starts behaving the way they want it to.

We're not saying box dye is categorically bad — it has its place and plenty of people use it successfully. But understanding the trade-offs helps you make an informed choice rather than an assumed one.

What a Professional Colour Service Actually Includes

When you have colour done at Alex Royer Salon, the process includes an assessment of your hair's current condition and colour history, a consultation about the result you're aiming for, selection of the right product and developer combination for your specific situation, professional application, and a toner or treatment where appropriate.

All of that is part of why the result is more predictable, and why your hair condition tends to improve rather than degrade over time with professional colour. If you've been using box dye and want to make the switch, we're happy to talk through what that process looks like for your hair specifically.

From Innaloo to Dianella: What Brings People to Alex Royer Salon

Need a great hair salon near Innaloo? Alex Royer Salon in Dianella is about 20 minutes away — expert colour, inclusive environment and PPD-free products as standard.

Innaloo is well-served for shopping and food, and it's reasonably convenient to a lot of Perth. Hair salons, though, are one of those things where proximity only gets you so far. If you're not happy with what's close, you start looking a bit further out.

We're in Dianella — about twenty minutes from Innaloo depending on traffic. It's not the closest option, but for a number of clients who make the trip regularly, the distance has stopped being a consideration pretty quickly.

What Makes the Difference

The most honest version of this is: the consultation, the colour quality, and the atmosphere. Those three things together are what turn a one-off appointment into a long-term client relationship.

The consultation is where a lot of salons fall short. We take time before any colour touches your hair to understand your hair's history, what's worked and what hasn't, how much maintenance you actually want to do at home, and what result you're genuinely aiming for. Reference photos help — not because we'll deliver exactly what's in the photo, but because they tell us something about the tone and direction you're drawn to.

The colour quality starts with the products. We use Keune Tinta and Semi, which are PPD free. For people who've had reactions to conventional dye, this is the most important fact about our salon. For people who haven't, it's still a better starting point than products that carry that risk unnecessarily.

The Atmosphere

We're LGBTQI+ friendly and judgment-free. We say it because it's true and because it matters to a significant number of clients, some of whom came to us specifically for this reason and others who found it was part of why the experience felt different from what they'd had elsewhere. Either way, it shapes how the salon operates day to day.

Services and Booking

Full-service salon — cuts for everyone, complete colour range, treatments, blow-drys, styling, extensions by consultation. Keune So Pure retail products for clients who want the same standards at home.

Book online at alexroyersalon.com.au. Walk-ins welcome when we have space. Probably worth booking ahead if you're making the drive from Innaloo — that way we can guarantee the time slot. Tuesday through Saturday, Bayley Street, Dianella.

Hair Toning: What It Actually Does and Why It Matters

Hair toning is one of the most misunderstood colour services. Alex Royer Salon explains what toners actually do, how long they last and when you need one.

Toning is one of those things that people hear about at the salon — 'you'll need a toner with that' — and nod along to without fully understanding what's happening. Which is fine, you don't need to know the chemistry to get a good result. But understanding toning does help you look after your colour at home and know when you're due for another appointment.

Here's a plain-language explanation.

Why Lightened Hair Goes Brassy

When you lighten hair — whether through bleach, balayage, or highlights — you're breaking down the hair's natural pigment. Natural dark hair contains a mix of eumelanin (brown/black) and pheomelanin (red/yellow). The darker the hair, the more eumelanin dominates. When you lighten it, the eumelanin breaks down first, which means the underlying warm pigments — the reds and yellows — are left behind before the hair reaches a pale blonde or platinum tone.

This is why freshly bleached hair often looks orange or yellow before it's been toned. The bleach has done its job, but the underlying warmth is still there.

What a Toner Does

A toner deposits a small amount of semi-permanent colour on top of the lightened hair to neutralise those warm tones. If the hair is orange, a blue or blue-violet toner counteracts it. If it's yellow, a purple or violet toner brings it toward a cooler blonde. The toner doesn't add permanent colour — it sits on the outside of the hair shaft and gradually washes out over several weeks, which is why toned colour 'fades' rather than growing out in a hard line.

A good toner can be the difference between a result that looks finished and salon-fresh and one that looks like the job isn't quite done. It's the step that most people see in the mirror without realising it's a separate part of the process.

How Long Does Toning Last?

Toners are semi-permanent. Most last between four and eight weeks depending on how often you wash your hair, what products you're using, and how much sun exposure you're getting. Sulfate-containing shampoos strip toner faster than sulfate-free alternatives — which is one of the reasons we recommend the Keune So Pure range to clients who've just had colour done.

Purple or blue toning shampoos, used once or twice a week at home, extend the life of a toner between salon appointments. They're not a replacement for a professional toning session, but they slow the rate of brassiness appearing.

When You Need a Toning Appointment

If your blonde or highlighted hair is starting to look warm, yellow, or brassy and it's been more than four to six weeks since your last colour appointment — you probably need a toner. It's usually a shorter, less expensive appointment than a full colour service, and it can make a dramatic difference to how your current colour looks.

At Alex Royer Salon we do standalone toning appointments as well as incorporating toning into full colour services. If you're not sure whether you need a toner or a full colour appointment, give us a call and we'll help you work it out.

A Hairdresser Worth the Drive From Scarborough

Looking for a quality hairdresser near Scarborough? Alex Royer Salon in Dianella is about 20 minutes away — PPD-free colour, expert cuts and an inclusive space for everyone.

Scarborough has a lot going for it — the beach, the esplanade, the generally good-looking western suburbs energy. What it doesn't always have is a hairdresser who ticks every box. We hear from Scarborough clients more than you might expect, and when we ask what brings them to Dianella, the answers tend to be pretty consistent.

PPD-Free Colour — The Main Reason Most People Drive

The biggest specific reason people make the trip from Scarborough — or anywhere further out, honestly — is the PPD-free colour. We use Keune Tinta and Semi as our standard colour range, and both are PPD free. PPD is paraphenylenediamine, the compound in most conventional hair dyes that triggers allergic reactions. Scalp itching, swelling, contact dermatitis around the hairline — if you've had any of these, PPD is usually the cause.

The reactions can develop over time in people who've coloured their hair for years without any issue. So it's not just people with known sensitivities who come looking for PPD-free colour — it's also people who've recently had a first reaction and are trying to work out what to do about it.

We can answer that question. And the colour results with Keune are genuinely excellent, so there's no trade-off involved.

The Inclusive Atmosphere

We're a proudly LGBTQI+ friendly salon and we work hard to make the space genuinely welcoming for everyone who walks in. That's not something we say and then don't follow through on — it shapes who works here, how clients are treated, and the general feel of the place.

Some Scarborough clients specifically sought us out because of this. Others noticed it when they arrived without expecting to and found it was part of why they wanted to come back.

Everything We Offer

Cuts for men, women, and everyone else. Full colour range — balayage, full applications, root touch-ups, toning, colour correction. Treatments. Blow-drys. Styling. Extensions by consultation. The Keune So Pure retail range for clients who want paraben-free, sulfate-free, cruelty-free, vegan-friendly products to take home.

Getting Here From Scarborough

About twenty minutes by car, depending on traffic and exactly where in Scarborough you're starting from. Worth booking ahead for longer trips — that way we can guarantee the time slot you need. Online bookings at alexroyersalon.com.au. Walk-ins welcome when we have availability. Tuesday through Saturday on Bayley Street, Dianella.

Coming to Alex Royer Salon From Wanneroo

Alex Royer Salon in Dianella serves clients from Wanneroo and the northern Perth corridor. Expert colour, inclusive environment, PPD-free products and walk-ins welcome.

Wanneroo is far enough out that Dianella is not the most obvious choice for a haircut. There are options closer to home, and we understand that convenience matters. But we hear from Wanneroo clients with enough regularity to know that some people are willing to make the longer trip when the reason is right.

We're about twenty minutes from Wanneroo town centre, depending on traffic and exactly where you're coming from. That's a deliberate trip. Here's why people make it.

The PPD-Free Colour Situation

This is the most specific reason we hear from people who've driven from further out. They've had a reaction to conventional hair dye — scalp irritation, swelling around the hairline, contact dermatitis — and they've done some research and found out that PPD is the likely cause. Then they've gone looking for a salon that uses PPD-free colour as a standard, not as a premium upgrade.

We use Keune Tinta and Semi across all our colour services. PPD free as the default. For people managing this sensitivity, that matters enough to make a twenty-minute drive feel like nothing.

The Inclusive Environment

Alex Royer Salon is LGBTQI+ friendly and judgment-free, and we put that front and centre because it's genuinely part of how the salon operates rather than a badge we've stuck on. We have clients from across the northern suburbs who chose us specifically because of this — not as a second consideration, but as the first one.

A salon where you feel completely comfortable is worth travelling for. That's the straightforward version of why some Wanneroo clients are regulars here.

Everything Else We Do

Cuts for everyone — men, women, all genders. Full colour services: balayage, root touch-ups, full colour applications, toning, colour correction. Treatments and conditioning services. Blow-drys. Styling. Extensions by consultation.

The Keune So Pure retail range we carry is paraben free, sulfate free, cruelty free, and vegan friendly — so clients who want the same standards at home have options that actually deliver.

Planning Your Visit From Wanneroo

Because you're making a longer trip, it's worth booking ahead rather than walking in — that way we can guarantee the time and the stylist that suits what you need. Book online at alexroyersalon.com.au. Tuesday through Saturday on Bayley Street, Dianella.

If you're on the fence about whether it's worth the drive — it is. But come and find out for yourself.

A Hairdresser Near Koondoola That's Actually Worth Visiting

Searching for a hairdresser near Koondoola? Alex Royer Salon in Dianella is just minutes away — expert colour, inclusive atmosphere and PPD-free products as standard.

Koondoola isn't a suburb that comes up much in conversations about Perth's salon scene. That probably means a lot of residents are either travelling further than they'd like to find a good hairdresser or settling for whatever's closest. We're not far, and we think we're worth the drive.

Alex Royer Salon is on Bayley Street in Dianella — roughly ten minutes from Koondoola. Small team, full service, PPD-free colour, genuinely inclusive atmosphere.

The Honest Version of What We Do

We cut hair. We colour hair. We do it well and we take it seriously. The colour side of things is where we get the most specific feedback from clients — people who came in having had bad experiences elsewhere, usually because a consultation didn't happen properly or because a previous salon used conventional dye that caused a reaction.

We use Keune Tinta and Semi, which is PPD free. PPD is the most common allergen in conventional hair dye and reactions to it can develop without warning even after years of problem-free colour. Going PPD free doesn't mean compromising on colour quality or longevity. It just means the risk of a reaction is off the table.

Who Comes to Us From Koondoola

A mix of people. Some found us through a Google search when they were looking for something specific — PPD-free colour, or a salon that's openly inclusive. Some came on a friend's recommendation and weren't sure what to expect. Some just wanted to try somewhere new because what they were doing wasn't working.

What most of them have in common is that they keep coming back. We hear that a lot — 'I wasn't sure at first but now I wouldn't go anywhere else.' That's the kind of relationship we're trying to build with clients, and it doesn't happen by accident.

Westminster Residents: Your Nearest Quality Salon Is in Dianella

Looking for a quality hair salon near Westminster? Alex Royer Salon in Dianella is about 10 minutes away — PPD-free colour, inclusive space, walk-ins welcome.

Westminster is a quiet residential suburb in Perth's northern corridor, and like a lot of the suburbs in this part of the city, the local options for hair can feel a bit limited. If you've been going to the same place out of habit rather than genuine preference, it might be time to try something different.

Alex Royer Salon is in Dianella — about ten minutes from most of Westminster. We're a small team and we take the work seriously. Here's what we actually offer.

What We're Known For

Colour is probably the thing we hear about most from new clients who came specifically because of a recommendation. Not just the quality of the result, but the process — the consultation that actually goes somewhere, the honest conversation about what's achievable, the follow-through that matches what was discussed.

We use Keune Tinta and Semi colour, which is PPD free. We use the Keune So Pure retail range, which is paraben free, sulfate free, cruelty free, and vegan friendly. These aren't premium add-ons — they're the baseline products we've chosen because we believe in them.

The Environment

We're a proudly LGBTQI+ friendly salon and we work hard to make the space judgment-free for everyone who comes in. That shows up in the way the team operates and the conversations that happen in the salon — it's not an attitude that gets switched on for certain clients and off for others. It's consistent.

Some of our Westminster clients specifically chose us because of this. Others just found that the atmosphere was more relaxed than they'd experienced elsewhere.

Services

Cuts for men, women, and everyone else. Full colour range including balayage, full applications, toning and colour correction. Treatments. Blow-drys. Styling. Extensions by consultation.

From Landsdale to Dianella: Why It's Worth the Drive

Need a great hairdresser near Landsdale? Alex Royer Salon in Dianella offers expert cuts, PPD-free colour and a relaxed, inclusive atmosphere — 15 mins from Landsdale.

Landsdale sits a bit further out than some of the other northern suburbs we hear from regularly — about fifteen minutes from Dianella, depending on traffic. That's further than a walk-in distance, obviously. But it's not far for a hairdresser you actually trust, and that's the calculation most of our Landsdale clients have made.

We're a full-service salon on Bayley Street in Dianella. We do cuts, colour, treatments, and styling for everyone — no exceptions, no awkward moments.

What Makes the Trip Worth It for Landsdale Clients

The most common reasons people tell us they come from further out are: the PPD-free colour, the inclusive atmosphere, and the quality of the colour consultation. Those three things seem to matter enough to make a fifteen-minute drive feel completely reasonable.

PPD is paraphenylenediamine — the compound in most conventional hair dyes that causes allergic reactions in sensitive individuals. It's more common than people realise, and the reactions can develop over time in people who've used standard colour for years without any problem. We use Keune Tinta and Semi as our standard colour range, which is PPD free. For people who need it, that's not a small thing.

The Full Service List

Cuts for everyone — men, women, nonbinary clients. Colour across the full range including balayage, full colour applications, toning, colour correction, and root touch-ups. Treatments and conditioning services. Blow-drys. Styling. Extensions by consultation.

We also carry the Keune So Pure retail range — paraben free, sulfate free, cruelty free, vegan friendly — for clients who want the same level of care at home as they get in the salon.

Booking From Landsdale

Online bookings at alexroyersalon.com.au. Walk-ins welcome — it's always worth calling ahead if you're making the drive specifically, just to check we can fit you in. Tuesday through Saturday on Bayley Street, Dianella.

If you've been settling for a convenient hairdresser rather than a good one, the fifteen minutes might be the best decision you make this week.

A Hair Salon Worth the Short Trip From Girrawheen

Girrawheen residents — Alex Royer Salon in Dianella is 10 minutes away. Expert cuts, PPD-free colour, inclusive environment and walk-ins welcome.

Girrawheen is a suburb that tends to fly under the radar in conversations about Perth's northern corridor, but it's a well-connected, diverse community and it's not that far from some genuinely good services — including, we'd like to think, us.

Alex Royer Salon is in Dianella, roughly ten minutes from Girrawheen. We're a small team, full-service, and we try to be the kind of salon that people actually look forward to visiting rather than just getting through.

The Colour Work Is Where We Stand Out

If you ask our regulars why they keep coming back, colour is usually the first thing they mention. Not just the result — though we take real pride in that — but the consultation before anything happens. We ask questions about your hair's history, your lifestyle, how much maintenance you're realistically going to do at home, and what you're actually hoping to see in the mirror. The reference photo conversation, when people bring one, is something we take seriously rather than glancing at and moving on from.

We use Keune Tinta and Semi colour, which is PPD free. For people who've experienced reactions to conventional dye — and there are more of them than most people realise — this removes a genuine concern from the picture.

An Environment That's Different in Ways That Matter

We're LGBTQI+ friendly and judgment-free. That's not just a line on the website — it reflects who works here and how the salon operates day to day. Some of our Girrawheen clients specifically sought us out for this reason. Others just found that the atmosphere felt different from places they'd been before, even if they couldn't immediately articulate why.

A hairdresser appointment should feel like a break, not a performance. That's what we're trying to create.

Practical Information

We're on Bayley Street in Dianella. Street parking. Bookings online at alexroyersalon.com.au, walk-ins welcome subject to availability. Tuesday through Saturday.

Looking for a Hairdresser Near Balga? Here's What We Offer

Looking for a quality hairdresser near Balga? Alex Royer Salon in Dianella is about 10 minutes away - expert cuts, PPD-free colour and a welcoming space for everyone.

Balga is one of those Perth suburbs that doesn't get a lot of attention from the city's salon industry, which means residents often end up travelling further than they should for a decent haircut. We'd like to change that, at least a little.

Alex Royer Salon is on Bayley Street in Dianella — about ten minutes from most of Balga, depending on where you're coming from. We're a small, full-service salon and we hear from Balga clients fairly regularly that making the short trip was worth it.

Why People Make the Drive

It comes down to a few things, depending on who you ask. Some people come specifically for the PPD-free colour. They've had reactions before — scalp itching, swelling, contact dermatitis — and found out that PPD was the cause. We use Keune Tinta and Semi colour as standard, which is PPD free, so the risk that comes with conventional colour isn't part of the picture here.

Others come because they want a hairdresser who actually listens. That sounds like it should be the baseline for any salon, but it's not always — and when you've had the experience of explaining exactly what you want and walking out with something different, you start to understand why people drive ten minutes to find someone they trust.

And some people come because we're a proudly LGBTQI+ friendly, judgment-free salon. That matters to a lot of people in ways that aren't always visible on the surface, and it shapes the atmosphere of the place in ways clients notice when they walk in.

What We Do

Everything. Cuts for men, women, and everyone else. Colour services across the full range — root touch-ups, balayage, full colour, toning, colour correction. Treatments and conditioning services. Blow-drys and styling. Extensions by consultation.

The retail products we carry — the Keune So Pure range — are paraben free, sulfate free, cruelty free, and vegan friendly. If you care about what goes on your hair at home as well as in the chair, we can have that conversation honestly rather than just recommending whatever has the best margin.

Getting Here From Balga

Bayley Street, Dianella. Street parking available. We take bookings online at alexroyersalon.com.au and we welcome walk-ins — just check in and we'll do our best to fit you around the schedule. Tuesday through Saturday.

If you've been putting off finding a new regular hairdresser because it feels like a bigger decision than it should be, a first appointment is just a first appointment. No commitment beyond the chair.

A Mount Lawley Alternative Worth Knowing About

Looking for a hairdresser near Mount Lawley? Alex Royer Salon in Dianella is just 10 minutes away — expert colour, inclusive space and PPD-free products.

Mount Lawley has Beaufort Street, which means good food, good coffee, and a reasonable number of salons. So why would someone from Mount Lawley drive ten minutes up to Dianella for a haircut?

A few reasons, as it turns out. And our Mount Lawley clients are usually pretty clear about what they are.

PPD-Free Colour, Which Is Harder to Find Than It Should Be

The most common specific reason people make the trip from Mount Lawley is our colour range. We use Keune Tinta and Semi, which are PPD free. PPD — paraphenylenediamine — is the compound in most conventional hair dyes that triggers allergic reactions in sensitive individuals. It's a real issue, and the number of people who discover they're sensitive to it only after years of colour services without a problem is significant.

Not every salon in Mount Lawley — or anywhere else in Perth — can say their standard colour range is PPD free. We can. For people who've had reactions before, or who just want to avoid the risk, that's worth a ten minute drive.

An Inclusive Space That Actually Means It

We're LGBTQI+ friendly and judgment-free. Mount Lawley is a reasonably progressive suburb and that's not a foreign concept there. But there's a difference between a salon that would say they're welcoming to everyone and one where that value is actually baked into the team and the atmosphere.

Several of our regular Mount Lawley clients are specifically here because of this. They found us through community word of mouth, or because they were tired of the slightly-awkward feeling they got elsewhere, and decided to try somewhere where they wouldn't have to think about it at all.

The Technical Work

Beyond those two things, the quality of the cuts and colour is just good. Consultations are taken seriously — we ask questions and listen to the answers before we pick up a brush. We use Keune products throughout. The So Pure retail range we carry is paraben free, sulfate free, cruelty free, and vegan friendly for clients who care about what goes on their hair at home as well as in the salon.

Getting Here From Mount Lawley

You're looking at ten to twelve minutes by car. Bayley Street in Dianella, easy to find, street parking available. Bookings online at alexroyersalon.com.au or walk in Tuesday through Saturday.

If what you're reading here sounds like a better fit than what you've been getting in Mount Lawley, it probably is. Come and find out.

The Nollamara Hairdresser Question — Here's Our Answer

We get clients from Nollamara fairly regularly. They usually find us through word of mouth or by searching for a hairdresser nearby and clicking through to see what we're actually about. What most of them say, once they've been in, is some version of: why didn't I come here sooner.

We're on Bayley Street in Dianella — from most of Nollamara, that's a ten minute drive at most. For some parts of the suburb, less. It's not around the corner, but it's close enough that once you find a stylist you trust, the distance stops being a consideration.

What We Do and How We Do It

We're a full-service hair salon. Cuts for everyone — men, women, nonbinary clients, kids who are old enough to sit in the chair. Colour services across the full range, from a simple root touch-up to a full balayage or colour correction job. Treatments, blow-drys, styling. Extensions by consultation.

The colour is what we're probably most known for among our regulars. We use Keune Tinta and Semi colour, which are PPD free. PPD is the compound in most traditional hair dyes that causes allergic reactions in sensitive individuals. Some people know they're sensitive. Others find out the hard way after years of using standard colour. Going PPD free removes that risk without any compromise on the quality or longevity of the colour result.

Why the Environment Matters as Much as the Technical Skill

We're a proudly LGBTQI+ friendly and judgment-free salon. For some clients this is the most important thing on the list. For others it's background context that makes the whole experience feel more relaxed without them necessarily being able to put a finger on why. Either way, it shapes how the salon feels when you walk in — and that feeling is something clients consistently mention when they tell friends about us.

You shouldn't have to brace yourself before walking into a hairdresser. You should be able to sit in the chair and relax. That's what we're going for.

Book or Walk In

Bookings online at alexroyersalon.com.au. Walk-ins welcome subject to availability — we do our best to fit people in. Tuesday through Saturday. Street parking on Bayley Street.

If you're in Nollamara and you've been settling for a hairdresser who's merely fine, it might be worth making the short trip to see what better looks like.
